Bhasha Chakrabarti in Conversation

DATE: Thursday 6/5/25   TIME: 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Bernard Osher Foundation Auditorium | Registration Required

Join artist Bhasha Chakrabarti as she explores artmaking as a process of mending—both literally and metaphorically. Challenging the traditional view of mending as a mundane act, Chakrabarti transforms it into a creative gesture that confronts fragility, vulnerability, and impermanence. Her work integrates local materials with global dialogues on race, gender, and power, examining feminine labor and resistance, especially from the global South. In conversation with Sayantan Mukhopadhyay, PhD, Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. Self-Portrait as Mumtaz Mahal on a Carpet from the Shah Jahan Period at the Frick (Smelling a Flower) (2023) is currently on view in the collection galleries.
